I can completely understand what you're going through. I would like to offer a suggestion that may be an option, but it may depend several factors. My car is a 2010 model and the warranty just expired. It was all I could do to afford the car, but had no choice when I totaled the car I had been driving for 12 years in a car accident.
A few weeks ago I hit a pothole in the road. It not only busted my tire but it damaged my wheel beyond repair. I was devastated because I have no money and nowhere to turn for help. I took a long shot and contacted the corporate office of the manufacturer of my car, explained my situation, and asked if they would work with one of the local dealerships and offer me a discount on the parts and repairs. I was surprised and blessed when they offered me both parts and repairs at no cost to me.
This may be an option you can try to have your transmission fixed, but it may depend on how old your truck is and how many miles you have on it. However, I wouldn't let it stop me from trying. If you'll give me the make and model of your truck, I'll go do a search for the right person to contact to help you out. You have nothing to lose by asking.
I wish you the best of luck.
